Shore Temple - These temples built towards the Bay of Bengal near the Chembarambakkam lake are known as beach temples.  This beach temple is very ancient.  The temple was built in the 8th century AD.  The temple was built by Narasimhavarman II of the Pallava dynasty with a magnificent structure made of granite.

Mahabalipuram Beach - Not far from Chembarambakkam lake is the Bay of Bengal beach with its beautiful sand dunes, salty aromas, and ocean waves.  It is very quiet and people come to this beach with their families, friends, and couple.  Here people play games like swimming and surfing.  Another highlight of the place is the Mahabalipuram Temple.

Anna Zoological Park - Apart from the beaches and temples near the lake, there is also an intellectual place called Anna Zoological Park.  Anna Zoological Park is the first established public zoological park in India.  It was founded in 1855.  A variety of rare plants and herbs are grown here and people are allowed to see them.  But the entrance fee has to be paid.  There are frequent exhibitions by the Government of Tamilnadu.

DakshinaChitra - DakshinaChitra is a historical museum located very close to Chembarambakkam lake.  It was founded and is currently managed by the Madras Craft Foundation.  The museum is dedicated to the heritage and culture of the Tamils.  You should visit this place with the parks and beaches.
