Biography of Vijay Shankar - The hero from Tirunelveli

        It is a matter of pride for Tirunelveli that Vijay Shankar, the right-handed fast bowler and right-handed batsman who played in the 50 over World Cup 2019 for India, was born in Tirunelveli.  He has had some success for India and has been playing in IPL matches for more than 5 consecutive years.  Now we're going to see his biography.

Early life

        Vijay Shankar was born on January 26, 1991, in the Tirunelveli district.  He was the son of H. Shankar and Uma Shankar.  Both Vijay Shankar's father and brother are cricketers. His brother Ajay Shankar is currently playing in the 2nd division.  It was from them that Vijay Shankar became interested in cricket.

        Since Vijay Shankar's father and his brother are cricketers, so they have encouraged Vijay Shankar to become a cricketer in their home without any objection.  And his dad has been coaching him since he was a kid.  Vijay Shankar's father realized that he could not move forward if Vijay Shankar was in Tirunelveli. So they moved from Tirunelveli to Chennai as a family.

        Vijay Shankar's family has been living in Madipakkam in Chennai.  He has finished his school studies in Madipakkam.  Then he graduated from Guru Nanak College, Velachery, Chennai.

Domestic cricket career

        Due to the hard work of Vijay Shankar, he soon made his debut in List A at a young age.  He played well in the List A matches and grabbed the chance to play his 1st class match in 2012 against Vidarbha.  Since his debut, he has made good use of all the opportunities available to him and has continued to give a very good performance for the Tamil Nadu team.

        Significantly, he scored 100 runs in the quarterfinals of the 2014-15 season against Vidarbha to win the man of the match and take Tamil Nadu to the semi-finals.  Then he scored 91 against Maharashtra in the semi-finals and took 5 more wickets with the ball to help Tamil Nadu advance to the final.  In that final match, he won the man of the match award for his all-round performance.  He showed himself as an allrounder.

        Vijay Shankar surprised everyone by topping the list of highest wicket-takers for India C in the 2018 Deodhar Trophy. Then in 2019, he played for the Indian B team.

IPL career

        In 2014 Vijay Shankar was in prime form.  That year was his career peak.  After giving a fantastic performance, he got a chance in ipl.  In 2014, the Chennai Super Kings team took him up from auction.  But he didn't get much of a chance that year and only played in one game that year.

        After a gap of two years, he was again bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2017 IPL auction and got a chance in 4 to 5 matches that year.  He showed his game as much as he could though he could not express his game on a huge scale.  He was bought by Delhi in 2018 and then rejoined Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2019. He has been playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad since that year.

Internation cricket career

        He has not achieved much in his IPL career but has a huge place in his international career.  He made his debut for the Indian team in 2018 in a series of Nidhahas trophies in Sri Lanka.  He took 2 wickets in a match in that series and he won the Man of the Match.  Although the Indian team won the final, many controversies arose over him because India was in a situation where he could lose the match. Then with the help of Dinesh Karthik India won.

        He got a few chances after that series and he used it properly.  He played especially well in the 2019 series against Australia.  Thus he replaced Ambati Rayudu in the Indian 50-over World Cup squad.

2019 - world cup

        He took the wicket off the first ball of the 2019 World Cup.  That ball will be the best moment of his life to this day.  He bowled brilliantly in the World Cup and batted at fourth position and scored some important runs for India.  The series was going very well for him.  which he had the best moment in that same series he had a somewhat sad moment.  That was his injury.  He was then dropped from the team.  After that, he did not get a place in the Indian team.
