Narayana Swamy Srinivasan, the controversial man of Indian cricket, has achieved a lot in his 50-year run. He has achieved BCCI president, ICC Chairman, owner of CSK, vice-president of Indian Cements, and etc. It is a matter of great pride for Tiruvelveli that he was born in our Tirunelveli district. Having created so many achievements he has been the subject of a lot of controversies.
Early life
N. Srinivasan was born on January 3, 1945, in Kallidai kurichi, Tirunelveli district to TS Narayana Swamy and Jaya Lakshmi. He has finished his SSLC and Higher secondary schooling at MCC Higher Secondary School. He did his bachelor's degree at Loyola College and Master's degree in chemical engineering at IIT of Chicago, United States. He was so good at sports in his childhood and teenage. He represented his college and state. He played tennis, cricket, and hockey. His father, who excelled in sports as a child, dragged him into the profession
When he was a child he lived a very luxurious life as his family was wealthy family. His father and grandfather T S Narayana Swamy, SNN Sankaralinga Iyer started the Indian Cements company in 1946 at Thalaiyuthu in Tirunelveli district. The company started to work on it after three years of overcoming the problems. After this TS Narayana Swamy started the plastic industrial business and shipping business.
Industrial Career
N Srinivasan entered the industry at an early age. From the beginning, he shined in leadership, integrating the workers, and got a sharp mind. After his father, N Srinivasan took full responsibility and was doing a wonderful job. But in 1979 he faced big trouble. More investors invested in the Indian Cement Company so N Srinivasan lost his managing control as large shares of this company went to others.
Undaunted, he worked hard for ten years and regained managing control of Indian Cements. After that, He combined the Acquisition of Coromandel Cements, Vishaka Cements, and CCI's Yerraguntla Plant into Indian Cements.
In 2003 his company hit rock bottom. But he has managed and overcome in just 2 years. Then his daughter joined the board. He overcame the problems that came after this and is still on a winning streak today.
Sports Career
N Srinivasan, who has been interested in sports since a young age, has not been able to become an athlete by himself but as an athlete, he has been doing a lot of help and work for the aspiring youth. Although the sport was not very profitable then, he owned several cricket clubs that day(old time).
The most crucial moment of his sports career was when he was elected President of the BCCI on 19 September 2011. He was subsequently elected Chairman of the ICC on 26 June 2014. The most popular league in Tamilnadu TNPL is run by Indian Cements. Indian Cements build a good infrastructure for sports so that they(athletes) can concentrate on only sports. He bought the Chennai Super Kings franchise when IPL was launched.
At a time when things were going well, N Srinivasan was later removed from the post of BCCI and ICC chairman after it was proved that he was involved in spot-fixing during the 2013 match between Chennai and Rajasthan. Following that, his team CSK was also banned for two years.
In 2018 CSK returned and made its comeback stronger by winning the title. Despite slipping many times in his 50-year journey but he was given a comeback again and again as CSK did. He is currently hailed as a legend of India. His success is due to his perseverance.
